Say TREEEEEEEEEEEE~~~
As you know we went to Badas Forest Reserve yesterday in Belait District to plant some trees. Also joining us were the staff from the British High Commission, Senor Pablo and Gang, the press entourage and people from JASTRE, Ministry of Development.
The tree-planting project at the Badas Forest Reserve is organised by the British High Commission in collaboration with International School Brunei (ISB). It is part of the continuous effort to increase awareness in reducing carbon emissions. A total of 8 hectares is allocated for the project, where half of it is included in the Badas Forest reserve area. The area has been ravaged by frequent forest fires since 1998 and the by the end of the project, they hope to plant 1 million trees in total!
The Badas Forest is of the kerangas (heath) variety, characterised by its sandy soil. We were given 600 drybalanops rappa (kapur paya) tree saplings and believe it or not, we planted all 600 trees in under an hour! Hahaha.

[...] I am dead beat! Woke up at an ungodly hour of 6.30am today and went gallivanting over to the other side of Brunei to plant trees. I slept quite late last night and when the alarm rang this morning I can’t help but think: WHAT did I get myself into? Hahaha. But thankfully all is well.
